IDRC research partners to share evidence during the African Development Bank’s annual meetings

 
Four sessions during the 2024 African Development Bank’s annual meetings in Nairobi, Kenya, will share knowledge and evidence on inclusive and sustainable trade, economic policy and foresight thinking.

The annual meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) present a unique opportunity for researchers to share knowledge with high-level decision-makers in Africa, key officials of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, leading academics and representatives of NGOs, civil society and the private sector.

This year’s annual meetings will take place from May 27-31, 2024, under the theme “Africa’s transformation, the African Development Bank Group and the reform of the global financial architecture.”

The following sessions will feature IDRC-supported research: 

Harnessing the potential of AfCFTA’s Women and Youth Protocol: Lessons from new data, evidence and analysis

Co-organized by the Trade Law Centre and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, this day-long event will feature IDRC-supported research on gender and the African continental free trade agreement (AfCFTA)

Building resilient African economies in the face of global shocks

This high-level panel discussion in the AfDB annual meetings will be led by ODI in partnership with the African Economic Research Consortium, the Economic Research Forum and the Partnership for Economic Policy and will feature IDRC-supported research on the economic impact of the Ukraine-Russia war

Making global economic and financial architectures and national economic policy work for African countries and communities

In collaboration IDRC and UN Futures Lab, the Institute of Economic Affairs and the South African Institute of International Affairs will hold this panel discussion in the AfDB annual meetings, to feature IDRC-supported work on foresight and futures thinking from the perspective of Africa’s young people.
